No Thread Knock Off Weld Studs

No Thread Knock Off Weld Studs (NTK) are plain-body ARC weld fasteners manufactured with a removable upper section that is intentionally detached after installation. Once the knock-off portion is removed, the remaining welded stud provides a lower finished projection than conventional no-thread weld studs while maintaining a permanent attachment to the base material.

Commonly used as locating pins, spacers, stops, rotational points, bridge deck attachments, and anti-skid devices, No Thread Knock Off Weld Studs are available in mild steel and stainless steel materials for fabrication, transportation, and infrastructure applications.

Example: NTK, 5/16 x 1.00, KO to .375, (BW), mild steel, 2000 pcs. Specify (L) Length, on a Before Weld basis by indicating “BW” or on an After Weld basis by indicating “AW.”

No Thread Knock Off Weld Stud Features

No Thread Knock Off Weld Studs are engineered for applications requiring a welded attachment point with a controlled post-installation height not achievable with conventional NT stud configurations.

Controlled Projection Reduction

After welding is completed, the upper section of the stud is removed at the designated knock-off location, producing a lower residual stud height than standard no-thread weld studs.

Sacrificial Knock-Off Section

The removable upper portion functions as a welding and handling extension during installation while allowing the finished assembly to retain only the required working projection.

Full-Fusion ARC Weld Attachment

The weld end geometry is designed for ferrule-shielded ARC stud welding, producing a metallurgical bond between the stud base and parent material through a controlled fusion process.

Bridge Deck Anti-Skid Functionality

NTK studs are frequently installed on bridge decking and bridge expansion joints where the remaining welded projection assists in reducing vehicular skidding under service conditions.
