Complete Stud Welding

Threaded Knock Off Weld Studs

Threaded Knock Off Weld Studs are ARC weld fasteners manufactured with a reduced-diameter break-off extension above the threaded section. Following installation, the extension can be removed at the designated break point, leaving a finished threaded stud projection on the welded assembly.

These studs are commonly used when welding equipment requires additional stud length for chuck engagement during installation, but the completed assembly requires a shorter finished stud. Available in carbon steel and stainless steel, threaded knock off weld studs provide an efficient solution for applications requiring controlled post-weld stud length.

How to Order or Specify: Give Stud Code, Dimensions C x L x A, Material, and Quantity.
Example: TKO, 3/8-16 x 1, (BW), KO to .375, 18-8SS, 2200 pcs.
Note: Specify (L) Length on a Before Weld basis by indicating “BW” or on an After Weld basis by indicating “AW.”

Threaded Knock Off Weld Stud Features

Threaded Knock Off Weld Studs combine welding accessibility with a finished threaded fastening point. The sacrificial extension simplifies installation while allowing the final assembly to maintain specified projection requirements.

Break-Off Extension Configuration

A reduced-diameter section is incorporated above the threaded area, creating a predetermined location where the extension can be removed after welding. This design leaves the required threaded stud length in place.

Increased Chuck Engagement Length

The temporary extension provides additional length for chuck retention during the welding cycle. This configuration assists with stud handling and positioning during installation.

Finished Stud Projection Control

Once the extension is removed, the remaining stud provides a consistent finished projection suitable for attaching nuts, brackets, panels, and other components.

ARC Stud Welding Compatibility

These studs are manufactured specifically for use with ARC stud welding equipment and are matched to corresponding ferrules, grips, feet, and chuck assemblies for proper installation.

Multiple Material And Thread Options

Production is available in low-carbon steel and stainless steel grades with UNC, UNF, and metric thread forms to satisfy a variety of engineering and fabrication requirements.

Structural And Industrial Application Use

The combination of a temporary installation extension and finished threaded fastener makes these studs suitable for fabrication, equipment manufacturing, enclosure assembly, transportation equipment, and structural steel applications.
